The Renaissance in Italy and Northern Europe.
After the long era of the Middle Ages, European Art was “reborn” as the arts looked back to Pre-Christian empires to portray timely concerns, both religious and secular, in the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries. The age of Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael owed as much to the Greeks and Romans as it did to the Vatican as these artistic titans laid the groundwork that artists still rediscover to this day.
