SUMMARY:May & June 2026 | Capturing Light | Pamela Hiatt
DESCRIPTION:Pamela Hiatt will have her artwork on display in the South Gallery at Maquoketa Art Experience during May and June 2026.\nAn Artists’ Reception will be held on May 3rd from 2 to 4 pm.\nMaquoketa Art Experience is open to the public and is free of charge. Donations are appreciated.\n  \n\n     \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAbout Pamela Hiatt:  \nI am a daughter\, sister\, wife\, mom\, grandma (Mimi!)\, but I wasn’t fully ME until I became an artist. When I hold a paintbrush in my hand\, I have a true\, quiet joy in my heart.  It’s a feeling akin to meditation: comfort\, peace\, confidence in my place in the world and wonder at the beauty in it. \nI was born and raised in Dubuque\, IA.\, worked as a mail carrier for 33 years and retired in 2013.  After taking painting lessons at our local art museum I considered it a lovely way to spend my time but in the past eight years things have changed for me! \nI took online lessons\, participated in Workshops and completed a Mastermind Mentorship Program with a wonderful teacher who really jumpstarted my vision and put Art in a whole new light. I have a Goal to reach Mastery Level before I leave this world and I work hard to achieve this! \nMy work is hanging in our artist’s co-op called The Collective in Elkader\, IA\, Galena Center For The Arts\, Pure Roots Gallery\, Dubuque Golf And Country Club\, and\, recently\, at Fritz And Frites Bistro in Galena\, IL.  I have also sold paintings through local shows\, online\, and at our yearly “Bluff Strokes Paint Out”.  I am a member of PPODs (Plein Air Painters Of Dubuque); spending many hours painting outdoors on site. Their artwork will be displayed in the Osterhaus Family Gallery.\nThere will be an artists’ reception on May 3rd from 2-4  that provides a chance to hear from our artists and what inspires them.\nMaquoketa Art Experience is free and open to the public.\n         \n \nAbout the James and MJ Tenney: \nJames Tenney is a fantasy artist\, comic book illustrator\, fan art doodler\, and art instructor.  He loves to doodle everything from Super Heroes to epic battles between angels and demons.  He has been published in small press comic books such as the Megazeen\, Tooth and Nail\, Echoes of Dawn\, and Blue Scar.   \n“If we don’t pass down the skills we have spent a lifetime to achieve\, they will be lost.  Invest them in others\, and they will know the same joy” – James Tenney  \nMJ Tenney is the youngest daughter of James Tenney\, and her art desk sits in the studio right next to her dad’s.  She loves to draw and paint fantasy art\, dragons\, mushrooms\, and prefers manga style illustration over her dads more traditional comic illustration style.
