Natural Dyes Workshop
June 1 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Join us for an enriching one-day workshop on natural dyes, exploring eco-printing and indigo, exclusively tailored for K-12 art teachers! The workshop will investigate two to three key components: indigo, resist/immersion, and eco-print techniques to offer valuable insights and hands-on experience.
Thanks to the generous support from the Iowa Art Council (IAC) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), this workshop is offered FREE of charge. Our goal is to provide a unique learning experience that blends art, history, botany, and chemistry, empowering art educators with new skills and knowledge.
Led by Anita Jung, Professor of Art at the University of Iowa, this workshop offers the opportunity for exploration. Anita’s expertise, rooted in repurposing discarded materials to minimize ecological cost, invites contemplative appreciation for beauty within the discarded, reflecting a continuous exploration of reuse to uncover hidden patterns throughout her artistic career.
We’re committed to creating an intimate learning environment, accommodating 6-8 participants per session. You have the flexibility to attend either the morning or afternoon session, or both! Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your teaching repertoire and connect with fellow art educators! Reserve your spot today.
